As the very high gauss rating is several times stronger than the read/write heads in a hard drive or tape drive, this degausser is more efficient and much faster than software-based programs.

 

The T-4 Degausser offers patented new degaussing technology with NSA approval to provide the highest gauss rating on the market today at an Effective Magnetic Field (EMF) of 4 Tesla or 40,000 gauss field spread: a 20,000 Gauss positive field and a 20,000 Gauss negative field.

 

Since it does not rely on software, the T-4 also has the ability to erase failed or damaged hard drives and tapes completely and permanently, regardless of the operating system.
